HIV/AIDS
 
 
 
 
    This is the most challenging programme the Church of North India has ever faced. The programme is working through the Regional Boards of Health Services along with the Dioceses. Synodical Board of Health Services (SBHS), Church of North India (CNI) is working through different programmes to spread awareness among the urban and rural population both independently as well as through networking with the Government as well as other Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs).  
       
    Objectives of AIDS Programme  
  To increase awareness in the communities regarding HIV/AIDS -its etiology, modes of transmission, signs and symptoms, prevention and care etc.  
  To bring about a change in the behaviour of women as housewives, working women, women in prostitution, tribal women, young women and adolescent girls. To empower women to take decisions about themselves and other family members especially their children so that they can be protected from HIV/AIDS.

  To bring about a change in the attitude and behaviour of the men folk by making them realise the importance of a healthy life where they need to protect themselves and their families from HIV/AIDS and other fatal infectious diseases.  
  To empower the adolescent and the youth to handle sexual advancements that would enable them to protect themselves from HIV/AIDS and other fatal infectious diseases.  
  To conduct and organise Programmes such as- The AIDS Teen Peer Educators' Training Programme, AIDS Awareness Talks, Panel Discussions, Rallies, Seminars/Workshops, Exhibitions etc. through the Regional Boards of Health Services of the Church of North India, Synodical Board of Health Services.  
  To produce and provide AIDS Awareness materials;  
  To motivate the high risk groups to take preventive measures;  
  To empower the communities to support affected individuals and their families;  
  To develop Hospices and Community Centres for the people affected with HIV/AIDS.
