3 Ms. Karuna Roy, Co-ordinator, The Synodical Board of Health Services, Church of North India has been invited by the World Health Organisation (WHO)/World Council of Churches (WCC) to attend the Planning Consultation on “Towards Primary Health Care-----Renewing Partnership with the Faith Based Communities and Services” to be held in Geneva, Switzerland on December 17 and 18, 2007. The purpose of this consultation is to revitalize a dialogue and relationship between the World Health Organisation and Faith Communities and their health issues.
4 Delegates from the Presbyterian Church in Canada visited Madhya Pradesh (Central India) to see the work of HIV/AIDS Project 'Nirmal' (Hope) and the Community Health programme from 2nd to 8th February 2007. Mrs. Karuna Roy, Coordinator, HIV/AIDS Programme, Dr.(Mrs.) S. R. Dutta, Secretary, Central Regional Board of Health Services and the project team accompanied them throughout the project area. The areas visited were Indore, Neemuch, Ratlam, Jobat, Mendha, Amkhutt and Hatpipliya.
5 The “NIRMAL” Project on HIV/AIDS in Madhya Pradesh under the AIDS Programme of the CNI SBHS & the CRBHS is working with the schedule cast community ( The Banchhra Community)where practically all women prostitute.It is a 300 kilometer stretch of a national highway on which around 2000 trucks ply each day with around 142 roadside motels.

7 Ms. Karuna Roy, Co-ordinator, HIV and AIDS Programme, The SBHS-CNI was invited by CCA as the Resource Person at The International Interfaith Pre –ICAAP Conference on HIV and AIDS (IIPC) in Colombo, Sri Lanka from August 17 -19, 2007.
8 Mrs. Karuna Roy, Coordinator HIV and AIDS Programme, The Synodical Board of Health Services, Church of North India, Dr. Mrs. S. R. Dutta, Secretary, Central Regional Board of Health Services and Mrs. Baruna Victor, Sr. Project Officer, Community Health Programme, The SBHS-CNI initiated the functioning of ‘Aastha’ which means AIDS Awareness, Support, Treatment – HOSPICE on AIDS at Christian Hospital, Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh on May 25, 2007. Six patients with opportunistic infections who need medication and rest have already been admitted in the Hospice and few more will be admitted gradually. Please remember these people in your prayers.
9 National Consulation on HIV and AIDS was organised by EFICOR in patnership with TearFund at Surajkund from April 26-28 2007. Mrs. Baruna Victor and Dr. Amrita Raj were the Resource Persons on behalf of Mrs. Karuna Roy, Coordinator, HIV and AIDS Programme, The SBHS-CNI. They conducted a Plenary session on-"HIV and AIDS Awarenes and Prevention" and a Satellite session on "Church Based HIV and AIDS Ministry" during the Consultation.
10 Mrs. Karuna Roy, Coordinator HIV and AIDS Programme, The SBHS-CNI was a Resource Person for "Developing Church Policy on HIV and AIDS: Need assessment, Church Ministry and Care of People Living with HIV and AIDS" during the 11th National Conference of Christian Agencies to Combat Substance Abuse Network (CACSAN). This Conference was held at Kolkota (West Bengal) from April 26-28, 2007. She was invited by Father Philip Kuruvilla from the Christian Conference in Asia (CCA).
11 HIV and AIDS Care and Counselling Centre (Hospice) was inaugurated at Christian Hospital Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh on 4th February 2007. This hospice will cater for People Living With HIV/AIDS having opportunistics infections and also provide Home-Base Care.

13 AIDS Peer Educator's Training Programme was successfully conducted at the Heinz Auditorium, YMCA, Jaisingh Road, New Delhi on October 10, 2007 by the students of Queen Mary’s School, Delhi under the guidance of Ms. Karuna Roy, Coordinator, The SBHS-CNI. The students who conducted the programme this year were trained on HIV and AIDS as AIDS Peer Educators in 2006. This was a peer to peer (student to student) interactive programme in which 200 students from 8 different schools of Delhi participated. Since 1997, the AIDS Peer Educator's Training Programme is a successful ongoing programme of The Synodical Board of Health Services, Church of North India, New Delhi.
14 Dr. Samuel Kishan, Chief Functionary & Secretary, The Synodical Board of Health Services, Church of North India was invited by the Bible Society of India, North West Auxiliary to be the Chief Guest for the 49th Annual Garden Fete at St. Columba’s School, Ashok Place, New Delhi on October 14, 2007. A qawwali on HIV and AIDS “Aaj is AIDS ke virus ka bol baala hai” was presented by Karuna Roy, Coordinator, The SBHS-CNI and her team. It is written and composed by her. At the fete, a stall with the vital information on HIV and AIDS was also put up by The SBHS-CNI through which we were able to convey the message of awareness to the masses.
15 AIDS Awareness programme for the young theologians of the Bishop’s College, Kolkata was conducted by Ms. Karuna Roy, Co-ordinator, The Synodical Board of Health Services, Church of North India on February 29, 2008 at Bishop’s College, Kolkata. The theme of the programme was “Church breathes life in you, you breathe life in Church.” A Team from the International Health Ministries, Presbyterian Church in USA was also present for the programme.
16 "Youth AIDS Awareness Programme" was organized on March 6, 2008 at Constantia Hall, YWCA, Blue Triangle, Ashoka Road, New Delhi where youth from different Churches of the Diocese of Delhi were present. The Rt. Rev. S. K. Singh, Bishop of the Diocese of Delhi was the Chief Guest for the programme. The programme was conducted by Ms. Karuna Roy, Co-ordinator, The Synodical Board of Health services, Church of North India alongwith three Resource Persons from the Diocese of Delhi. The theme of the programme was "We must be the change, we wish to see in the world".
17 Ms. Karuna Roy, Co-ordinator, The Synodical Board of Health Services, Church of North India is invited to be the Resource Person by the Asian Interfaith Network on HIV and AIDS (AINA) for the “Interfaith Pre-Conference on “Reclaiming Rights of Children Affected and Living With HIV and AIDS”. This Conference is scheduled to be held at Santitham, Chiang Mai, Thailand from July 2-6, 2008.
18 Ms. Karuna Roy, Co-ordinator, The Synodical Board of Health Services, Church of North India and Dr. Amrita Raj, Project Officer, HIV/AIDS programme will be attending the Ecumenical Pre Conference followed by the XVII International AIDS Conference 2008 which is scheduled to be held from July 31, 2008 to August 8, 2008 at the Mexico City.
